  House Rules:
  1. Only play as the Germans
  2. No road construction is allowed
  3. No city construction is allowed
  4. No pillaging of roads is allowed
  5. Bribing units is strictly prohibited
|
  Hint:
It's a BAD idea to attack bunkers. They are invincible. Instead,
try to find a way around them. If you capture their home city,
  they will disappear.

  Historical Information:
|
At first, no one knew what to make of the shelling.
The green troops on the front lines of the Ardenne
thought that it was friendly fire. Even veterans
were baffled. The German forces thought to be holding
the front were not supposed to be able to manage such
  a heavy bombardment.
|
Hitler has assigned the main attack to the Sixth Panzer
Army under command of SS General Josef Dietrich. His
only check are Field Marshals von Rundstedt and Model.
These forces began the attack in the early morning and
are concentrated mainly in the North.
|
With German tanks leading the assault, Allied soldiers
scramble to get behind the lines, rejoin units, and in
many cases, retreat and surrender. Units retreating
often find themselves locked in traffic jams with US
soldiers scrambling to actually defend the front.
|
The German road situation is confused as well, as supplies,
tanks, and troops find themselves in a logjam that is the
Ardenne forest. Several units are badly delayed due to
pileups that will not clear out until late in the day.
|
Adding to the confusion on the front is an elite group
of soldiers under command of Colonel Skorzeny. They are
disguised as American soldiers and assumed the role of
an American unit fleeing to the rear. Their mission
is to seize the key bridges and wait for the advance
of SS soldiers. However, the mission is canceled
due to the horrible traffic on the roads.
|
Not to be outdone, however, nine commando teams later go
on to infiltrate allied lines, switching signs at crossroads,
blocking key roads, and demoralizing allied commanders. One
team even made it all the way to the Meuse before being captured.
|
While chaos reigns in the Ardenne, the German advance presses
forward. Operation Herbstnebel (Autumn Mist) has begun!
@end -- this line must be here!
